Why: The most common reason is because your last certificate was issued using a different email address.

How to fix: A new feature was added on January 31, 2024 that will allow educators to link their new email address to their educator profile using the following instructions: https://doe.sd.gov/certification/documents/EducatorProfile-newMySD.pdf

1. Last Name - Check Educator 411 to see how your last certificate was issued.
2. Date of Birth - must be in this format of MM/DD/YYYY
3. SSN - include all nine digits in this format XXX-XX-XXXX

 
If the linkage doesn't work: Select "Apply" in the top right corner and select the "Contact the Office of Educator Certification" with the apple and books image. Then select the "Contact Us" to submit the following information:

1. Preferred email address - this is what you used when creating your current mySD account;
2. First and Last Name as it appears on your certificate; and
3. The last four of your SSN and Date of Birth. 

The new Educator Portal is part of the SD Citizen Portal (mySD.gov) which uses the State of South Dakota's single sign-on that allows a user to access services across state government using a single username and password.
