INITIATING YOUR GRANT
Important
This guidance applies to Annual Grants only. Separate guidance is available for:
ACKNOWLEDGING YOUR GRANT
By accepting SDAC funds, you agree to credit the National Endowment for the Arts and the South Dakota Arts Council. All published materials and announcements must include: “South Dakota Arts Council support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism, and the National Endowment for the Arts.” Failure to properly acknowledge funding can impact future eligibility.
The SDAC logo files are available for placement in programs, promotional materials, and newsletters, available here or by request by email to Sarah.Carlson@state.sd.us. We encourage you to also download and use the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) logos whenever possible. NEA logos are available for download online at https://www.arts.gov/grants/manage-your-award/nea-logo.
HOW TO REQUEST FUNDS
You do not need to request funds.
Payments are issued automatically according to the established schedule.
Off-schedule payment requests require approval from the SDAC Executive Director.
PAYMENT SCHEDULE
Effective July 1, 2026, grant funds are distributed in four installments:
- 30% in September
- 30% in January (after Mid-year Report submission)
- 30% in May
- 10% the following August (after Final Report submission)
You may complete your grant early, but payments will still follow the scheduled distribution timeline.
QUARTERLY CHECK IN
A Mid-year (Interim) Report is required to continue funding.
Deadline: December 31, 2026
Resources
Failure to submit this report may delay your January payment.
FINAL REPORT/CLOSING OUT THE GRANT
Submission of a Final Report is required to complete your grant.
Requirement
If a Final Report is not submitted:
- All funds must be repaid
- Eligibility for future SDAC funding may be affected
