These grants support the instruction of traditional music, crafts, dance, and other cultural activities. A skilled artist (master) works with a selected apprentice to pass on traditional knowledge and techniques. Funds are used to pay the master’s fee and tools, supplies, travel expenses, or other costs of the apprenticeship.
These grants are part of SDAC’s mission to ensure that the state’s rich artistic cultural heritage remains strong and vibrant.

FUNDING AMOUNT: Up to $5,000
DEADLINE: March 1, 2026 for projects running from July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027.

February 16, 2026, at 11:59 pm Central. Staff will review your application prior to submission to check for mistakes or omissions that might cause ineligibility and provide feedback ahead of the application deadline. Staff will not provide feedback on wording, spelling, or grammar.
