Jake Longbrake - Dupree, SD

Board Member - Jesse "Jake" Longbrake

Jesse “Jake” Longbrake was born in Eagle Butte, SD and grew up south of Dupree on Ash Creek. In 1985, he moved north of Dupree near Thunder Butte Creek. He is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and has lived in Ziebach County all his life except for 20 months attending SEAVTS in Sioux Falls.

Jake, and his wife, Cindy, have sons, Dakota and Rocky – along with 3 granddaughters and 3 grandsons. Hopefully some of them want to be a “cowboy” and stay ranching with cattle and horses.

Jake has been involved with cattle and horses his entire life and respects the brand laws in South Dakota – following the footsteps of his parents Pete and Faye Longbrake.

Jake believes he can make rational decisions and serve the Brand Board with dignity. Jake stated, “Brand Enforcement is part of law enforcement, and both are in place for people’s protection of life and property”. He is thankful for the appointment – stating “People in South Dakota have a right to the Board’s protection”.
