BIT provides digital services for voice, video and data applications to connect computers together to form local and wide area networks.
Network connected computers have access to a wide range of technology resources including printers, electronic mail, departmental applications, statewide applications, work files, Internet and more. Local Area Networks are connected to the Digital Dakota Network (DDN) through a variety of industry standard telecommunication methods.
Specific services include research, design, procurement, configuration, installation, bandwidth management, network management, software support, hardware support, vendor software maintenance and vendor hardware maintenance. BIT responsibilities will vary as needed.

- Access to entertainment based Internet resources such as Internet Radio or Video consumes a great deal of bandwidth. By reducing or eliminating the use of these resources, you can keep the cost of networking down

- State government accounts covered in the BIT Access Fee which is billed monthly to agencies per user ID
- Higher Education Per Mb Rate
- K-12 Connectivity funded through the Department of Education
