Summer Smoothies
Smoothies provide a fantastic nutrient boost and help you meet your daily fluid intake, keeping you well-hydrated. They are not only healthy but also make for a quick and convenient on-the-go breakfast or snack.
Try out one of these smoothie recipes this summer, and don’t forget to have your kids help! Toss all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Carrot, Apricot, Yogurt Smoothie
½ cup yogurt
½ cup ice cubes
1 tsp honey (remove or sub with maple syrup if giving to a child under 1 year old)
½ cup grated carrot
2 dried, chopped apricots
½ tsp cinnamon
1 pitted and chopped fresh apricot
Pumpkin and Avocado Smoothie
½ cup yogurt
½ cup frozen pureed pumpkin (canned works too!)
¼ of an avocado
½ cup water
1 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
Peanut Butter, Spinach, and Banana Smoothie
1 cup fresh spinach leaves
1 cup plain kefir or milk
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 frozen banana
Mocha Protein Smoothie
*for adults only*
1.5 cups cooled black coffee
1 cup ice cubes
1 frozen banana
1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ cup chopped walnuts
6 tbsp chocolate protein powder
Peaches and Cream Oatmeal Smoothie
½ cup yogurt
½ cup milk
1 cup frozen peaches
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup ice
½ frozen banana
